1).
first use gimp to turn your png or jpegs int a .pnm raw file
and then open a shell and type :
$ aview picture.pnm

NOTE read the manul for options.
$ man aview
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Z ==> zoom
- ==> zoom out
arows keys ==> move image left or right.
q ==> quit
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
S ==> save options
the save options give me the most trouble
when I try to find a good scale for the image
to html and ascii
